On Saturday, the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) led by the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) carried out a successful attack, killing 17 police, making it the largest number of enemy casualties in recent years.
The attack took place near the Korajguda hills in Chintagufa area, in the Sukma-District in Chhattisgarh, when the police forces were carrying out anti-Maoist patrols. Ruling class media outlets reported that the police forces were composed of Special Task Forces and District Reserve Guard. They had been ambushed many times and reported that 15 police were injured, two of them critically, and that 17 were missing, forcing them to retreat from the Maoist controlled area.
The reactionary newspaper The Hindu reported, “The Maoists retreated and fired again and the security forces fired and followed till they had been lured into an open area in hilly terrain where the Maoists, some 350 of them, had the advantage of numbers, line of fire as well as height, a classic ambush. The Maoists then picked off their targets. The other much larger group, not more than three kilometers away, also came under diversionary fire that kept them pinned down.”
The following day, the reinforcements and rescue teams recovered the bodies of the 17 dead police. The PLGA seized 16 fully automatic assault weapons in the operation, 11 AK 47 rifles, two INSAS rifles, one SLR LMG, two UBGLs, 1,550 bullets and six UBGL shells, along with various provisions and equipment. The old decaying Indian state reported that no Maoists were killed, while the Communist Party of India (Maoist) reports the loss of three comrades. In a recent statement the comrades called on the tribal people of Bastar to join hands with them in the fight for their rights against the state.
HONOR AND GLORY TO THE FALLEN PLGA COMBATANTS! LONG LIVE THE PEOPLES WAR IN INDIA!
