On April 4, the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) executed a counter-action against an Indian reactionary operation carried out by more than 1,000 officers. The counter-attack resulted in 22 reactionary officers killed.
Between 1,500 and 2,000 reactionary police from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), the Cobra Forces, the Special Task Forces (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) were deployed to the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh in a search-and-destroy operation after receiving intel that PLGA combatants were operating in the area.
After the reactionary forces opened fire in the rainforest, the 1st Battalion of the PLGA surrounded the group of 400 officers, encircling them and outmaneuvering helicopters with the use of light machine guns and improvised explosive devices. After the five-hour engagement, 22 members of the reactionary armed forces were killed and another 30 were injured. Combatants confiscated weapons, ammunition, and other equipment. The exact number of killed or injured PLGA combatants is unclear but bourgeois media report 2 to 12 dead.
