Editors’ Note: The following is an unofficial translation of statement by the Committee for the Construction of the Maoist Communist Party of Galicia, which was originally published on the Galician revolutionary website, Dazibao Rojo, as “GALIZA: Honor y gloria eterna al camarada Martin Naya!” Tribune of the People expresses our revolutionary condolences to the proletariat of Galicia who are mourning Martin Naya’s passing, and salute Naya’s example as a proletarian revolutionary and internationalist.
On behalf of Dazibao Rojo, we join the deep pain experienced by all of us who share the struggle with our comrade and founder of the Dazibao Rojo, Martin Naya. We promise to continue your great work of study and propaganda, comrade!
“There are men who fight one day and are good, there are men who fight one year and are better, there are men who fight for many years and they are very good. But there are those who struggle their entire life and they are thus indispensable.” (Bertolt Brecht)
With deep pain, we have to give the bad news of the death of our great comrade, Martin Naya. On September 3, after an intense fight against various diseases, he gave his last example of courage and determination, choosing to embark on the luminous path of revolutionary immortality.
The Galician proletariat in particular, and the international proletariat in general, lost one of the most important figures of Maoism in the last 40 years, a great expert of Chairman Mao and President Gonzalo’s work, as well as of all the revolutionary movements of the past and present. At the international level, he was a true master of the masses and a tireless organizer and militant, he was known as Miguel Alonso by the international proletariat. He wrote numerous articles on Maoism, making great contributions to the ideological and two-line struggle in the International Communist Movement (ICM), always blunt and often controversial, but he always showed respect for his comrades and he was open to correcting his errors, as Chairman Mao taught us.
Comrade Martin Naya was born on July 28, 1952. He began his political activism at a young age he was participating active in the PTG (Galician Workers’ Party / PTE), a Marxist-Leninist-Mao Tse Tung Thought organization, in which he held various representative positions, as well as in the Confederation of Workers’ Unitary Trade Unions (CSUT).
After Deng Xiaoping’s coup d’état, many organizations abandoned Maoism and became revisionists as in the case of the PT. The comrade left the organization and continued to think that Chairman Mao’s ideas were correct, following the evolution of Maoism in the world, particularly in Peru and the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement (RIM). He was the comrade who held high the red flag of Maoism in Galicia from this moment to the end of his days. He was a man who stood firm in defending Maoism with unwavering commitment and sacrifice in the face of many setbacks and difficulties, fighting tirelessly for the interests of the people and for the cause of the World Proletarian Revolution.
In 1989 he organized a series of conferences in Galicia on the situation in Peru of the members of the Communist Party of Peru.
In 1993, with the arrest of Chairman Gonzalo, he organized the Galician Emergency Committee to defend his life. With other comrades they had many activities during the duration of the committee, lectures by the lawyer of the International Delegation Miguel Arnau, rallies in front of the Consulate of Peru in A Coruña, collected signatures, held concerts and even poetry recitals by César Vallejo.
The comrade has always been firm in his defense of Chairman Gonzalo and his thought, which guides and commands the revolution in Peru, condemning the liars and the genocidal regime of Fujimori-Montesinos and fighting the Right Opportunist Line (ROL) with all his strength.
In 1993 he created the Correo Vermello (Red Post) as a propaganda apparatus of international Maoism.
The People’s War began in Nepal in 1996 and shortly thereafter he organized the Galician Committee to Support the People’s War in Nepal, which would campaign at various points in Galicia, until the surrender and claudication of the Maoist Communist Party led by the traitors and renegades, Prachanda-Batarai. The comrade assumed responsibility for the mistake of not having interpreted the betrayal in Nepal.
In 2006 he founded the Committee of People’s Struggle “Manolo Bello,” the first Marxist-Leninist-Maoist organization in Galicia.
In 2008 he created the Dazibao Rojo, which became one of the informative resources of Maoism in Spanish.
In 2010 he organized the Gallego Committee to Support the People’s War in India with other comrades.
In 2012 he founded with his colleagues from the CLP MB the Committee for the Construction of the Maoist Communist Party of Galicia. This comrade was the single greatest promoter of the Unified International Maoist Conference until his final days.
In 2014 he founded the Movemento de Loita Popular (Popular Struggle Movement), with other comrades, as a mass organization. For several years he became the reference point for the popular struggle in A Coruña. Highlighting the fight against evictions, corruption, and the workers’ struggle, as well as the solidarity with the struggle of the Brazilian people against the World Cup or the tour of the MFPR of Italy.
In 2018 he organized the Marxist Study Group of the CS A Comuna de A Coruña.
Yes, comrades, Maoism has lost one of its most indispensables, a great leader, but he serves as a model of study, work, commitment and ideological firmness which will forever stay in the memory of the exploited and oppressed peoples of the world.
From here, the Committee for the Construction of the Maoist Communist Party of Galicia is committed to follow his Maoist example, holding high the flag of Maoism, fighting for a sole Unified International Maoist Conference, and to build the Maoist Communist Party of Galicia as a fundamental tool for building the Army and the United Front and through the People’s War to create the Galician Socialist Republic as a base area for the World Proletarian Revolution.
Honor and Eternal Glory to Comrade Martin Naya!!!
Comrade Martin Naya, Present in the Struggle!
Long live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!!
Long live the World Proletarian Revolution!!!
